LAKENGREN WOMEN’S CLUB 5/8/09
Thirty- five Lakengren Women’s Club members traveled to Greenville on May 6. Twenty- one met at the Lodge at 8:30 a.m. and carpooled to the Kitchen Aid Factory for a 60 minute guided tour. We were divided into groups of seven for this tour. The entire stand Kitchen Aid mixers in the world are made at this very modern and clean factory.
The other 14 women met up with the group at noon at Stonehedge, a unique old home, for a short meeting and long lunch. Jean Armour gave each lady a flower to be used during the devotions. As she read a parable about each person having a part to play in life, she passed a basket around to collect all the flowers. Each flower was pretty but when placed together in a basket, they were more beautiful. Cecelia Deneau won the basket and Virginia Wehrly won the 50/50.
New officers for September 2009 to August 2010 are:
President; Phyllis White,
Vice President; Jean Armour,
Secretary; Connie Moore,
Ass’t. Secretary; Carole Moore,
Treasurer; Loretta Varney,
Ass’t. Treasurer; Rosemary Smith.
These officers will be installed at the June 3 carry in luncheon and assume duties in September.
At 12:30 lunch was ready and the best part of the day began. Drinks and vegetable chowder were brought to the table and the ladies were invited to fill their plates from a dining table full of salads, sauces, fruits, breads and spreads. Most of us were pretty full before even starting on the rice and vegetable with a chicken sauce main course. Of course there was chocolate cake, pineapple soufflé and strawberries too.
After lunch, there was still shopping to do. Some went downtown Greenville to the Kitchen Aid Experience where we bought mixers, ice cream makers and toasters. Others went to the Flour Barrel in Gettysburg. We were all happy to get back home after this long day.
