Rumpke has issued a letter of negative response to Lakengren Property Owners Attempts to take care of ourselves. Our recent proposal for Independent Trash Removal has caused Rumpke to utilize its resources to impact your decision. Please keep in mind that Rumpke stands to lose hundreds of thousands of Dollars if we as a Community Band together and make the decision to go independent. If Rumpke is concerned enough to spend dollars to scare you into voting no on this issue it stands to reason that what they lose in profits is what Lakengren gains. The question remains where do you want the profits from the trash hauling to go—to Rumpke or to be invested back in our community?

We would like to address some of their statements-

1. 1. Liability- Currently the LPOA operates our own snow removal. The snow plows pose a much greater risk than a trash truck. We are proposing buying much smaller trucks that would reduce the liability on the roads. Matthew McNelly from Rumpke informed us if we would like to have smaller trucks on our roads they would pass the cost on to the customers (us the property owners).

2. 2. Workers Compensation/Training- Currently we operate a full time maintenance/ road department and have had no accidents involving workers compensation in the last 10 years. We also have about 50 employees covered on our policy in the peak season so we understand the requirements of workers compensation.

3. 3. Environmental Compliance- Currently we maintain 6 lakes to EPA standards and feel we have a great understanding of the environmental impact.

4. 4. Equipment Cost- We are going to purchase smaller satellite trucks that have a lower operating /repair cost than the large dual axel trucks Rumpke is currently operating in the association.

5. 5. Size of Community- We are currently the second larger community in Preble County. We are the largest lake community home owners association in the state of Ohio. Lewisburg is a smaller community than ours and collect their own refuse.

6. 6. Rumpke has been here every Tuesday to pick up at the same time the trucks they have used damage our roads severely.

7. 7. Rumpke does not contribute any financial assistance to our community while causing damage to the roads.

This project is for the benefit of our community and improves our property values. Voting yes will bring $125,000 in profits to help Lakengren. Please vote yes for Lakengren Trash Collection Service.
