Lakengren News by Paul Healy and Associates
FROM THE LPOA OFFICE
LPOA trustee resumes-Only five resumes submitted so far for the three open positions on the LPOA Board. They appear in the October Viking. More resumes can be submitted prior to the annual meeting at the Lodge on Saturday, October 18 at 9:00 AM. At that meeting, persons can still put their name in to run for one of the three open positions.
LWA Trustee resumes- Only one resume has been submitted so far for the one open position for the LWA. Check our web site, lakengrenpoa.org, to get information about these trustee positions.
Dog Policy- this new policy can also be found on our web site.
Yard debris- the Maintenance barn area is open on Saturdays and Sundays until dark for depositing tree, garden and yard waste.
LPOA deposit box- The LPOA for years has had a locked deposit box that persons can use to leave any item they have for the LPOA office. It is located inside the Lodge on the wall by the north front door.
Restaurant- There have been three inquires about running the Lakeside Café but no written proposals to be presented o the LPOA Board for approval. Inquires can be made by calling the LPOA office at 456-3173.
Rehab & Exercise- Jack Tobias has relocated the donated bicycle and treadmill to the balcony area of the Lodge for Lakengren residents. Presently, they are stored in the women’s restroom and I am reluctant to go in there for knee rehab. There are many residents who have had or are having rehab services and could use some exercise equipment found in hotel spa areas. The only disadvantage is being located on the second floor. However, if a person cannot manage to climb the stairs, they should not be using the exercise equipment. If anyone has some exercise equipment that they would like to donate, call the office for arrangement.
Web Site- Lakengren Web site is lakengrenpoa.org. and is administrated by Lakengren resident, Barry Clutter, at no cost to the association. Barry does a good volunteer job of keeping the web site updated which can be difficult—“what info to get rid of”. If you are having any computer problems, give him a call at 456-9981.
OHIO LAKE COMMUNITIES ASSOCIATION
Spoke with Gary Phillips, OLCA president, last week about the fall meeting a Lake Buckhorn. He related that about 70 people attended the meeting. The meeting was mostly about office management of insurance, collections, workmen’s comp, etc. No one taped the sessions as was hoped so what was reported could have been relayed to our Board members and others. Also, the OLCA’s web site is being revised and is not available. However, Gary’s lake which is called Rome Rock Association has a web site, roamingshores.org. Click Rome Rock Association and then click Ohio Lake Links to bring up other Ohio Lake communities including our web site.
Lake Lorelei
We may not be able to report on the recent OLCA meeting but a most significant article was found in the October/November issue of Lake Lorelei’s , “The Legend of Lorelei,” their version of our Viking. The article was written by their Trustee, Mike Behr. The article can be found on their web site lakeloreleiohio.com. Click their seal, click Legend of Lorelei, click view, Oct/Nov, ’08 and go to page 13. Mike is forming a new “Future Planning Committee.” What he is suggesting holds true for all lake associations and may convince you to become more involved in our community. Check out his program, attend the annual meeting and the subsequent Board meetings. Your input could be vital for the good of the community.
Dragon Club
The next meeting of the Dragons is Thursday, October 9 at 7:30PM in the Lodge. We must thank the following Dragons and Christmas Lights Committee members , Bill Turner, John Shipley, Chuck Rutherford, Bob Stoner and Bill Turner’s guest, Mike Valimont, for renovating the Christmas Lights Committee’s trailer. Credit goes to those Dragons who painted the beach shelters... The café is closed, so the Dragons may wish to bring their own beverages for an evening of fun. Previously, it was suggested, but not acted on, to have corn whole games and viewing the Monday night football games on the Monday nights except for Mondays when the LPOA Board meets. All Lakengren men are inviting to join.
Halloween Walk
Ginger Adams, who originated the Halloween Walk years ago because it was not safe for Lakengren children and adults walk the Lakengren streets, has scheduled this year’s walk at the Lodge on Thursday, October 23 from 6 to 8 PM. Please check the October issue of the Viking for more details. She will not use the previously decorated cardboard houses and will use tents, etc. instead. The characters, this year, will be from the Jungle Book. She will need many volunteers for set up and distribution of the treats and snacks. Give her a call and offer your help and enjoy the fun.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS COMMITTEE
The CLC members decided to invite Dalia Garcia and Scott to provide the music at the CLC’s New Years Eve party this year. They performed last year and were a crowd pleaser.
The CLC will have their annual Christmas Open House on Sunday, December 13. We will again have Larry McMechan and his granddaughters performing their magic acts, followed by Santa Claus. After the kiddies are put to bed, the adults will have a karaoke session. More information will follow. Just mark your calendars now for these events.
